BUILDING A BETTER BEEKEEPING SUIT FOR WOMEN
Our founder Jennifer York has won a 2024 research grant from the South Carolina Beekeeping Association to reinvent the beekeeper’s suit for women! Jen is using her 20+ years’ experience producing Jennythreads, 10 years keeping bees, and INPUT from fellow women beekeepers to create a functional suit that works for real women. Because when your gear keeps you comfortable and calm in the apiary, your bees are happier, and we women are closer to SAVING THE BEES.
EXCITING pROGRESS
Jen has made exciting progress on the suit design. So far she has:
surveyed over 100 women beekeepers for design input
sewn many prototypes and wear-tested them in the apiary
contracted a manufacturer in WV, USA to sew first production run
sourced 700 yards of 100% recycled mesh fabric
have the first SEWN SAMPLE in hand! It’s so freakin’ awesome!
SUIT DESIGN IS TOP SECRET UNTIL LAUNCH

The suit pattern is currently being graded into multiple sizes and samples sewn in XS to XXL.
Jen will debut the suit at the SC/NC Joint Meeting Spring Conference, Monroe, NC. You will be able to try on suits in person and PREORDER your suit; it will be sewn in West Virginia and shipped to you.
